About Us
The Oregon Middle School Athletic Association (OMSAA) works in partnership with The State Tourney and our network of participating qualifying tournaments to provide middle school athletes with unparalleled opportunities to compete, grow, and connect. Together, we aim to elevate school-based athletics across Oregon, fostering a sense of community and pride while supporting young athletes in their development.
Our mission is rooted in these core objectives:
- Unite Communities: By collaborating with local qualifying tournaments, we bring schools and communities together to celebrate the passion and spirit of youth athletics.
- Promote Equity and Inclusion: We ensure that athletes from every region of Oregon have equal access to participate and compete on a level playing field.
- Highlight Student-Athletes: Our events showcase the talent, sportsmanship, and dedication of young athletes, creating opportunities for recognition and celebration.
- Provide Accessible Opportunities: By centralizing key events like The State Tourney, we reduce travel costs and make participation more accessible for families across the state.
- Support Local Schools: Proceeds from sponsorships and events go directly back to schools, helping to fund athletic programs and enrich the student experience.
Through state qualifiers, a robust seeding process leveraging RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) Rankings, and an end-of-season championship tournament, OMSAA ensures that every team is positioned fairly based on performance and strength of schedule. This data-driven approach enhances competition while maintaining inclusivity for teams across the state. Our collaboration with The State Tourney and qualifying tournaments reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation of athletes and building a stronger, more connected athletic community.
