Rankings & RPI
Rankings for the 2025-2026 season will be available soon.
The RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) rankings for the 2025-2026 season will start tracking September 20-21 for “non-feeder/club” and November 1-2 for school based/feeder teams. Only results from qualifying tournaments contribute to the RPI calculations, ensuring a fair and consistent evaluation of team performance.
Here’s how it works:
- No Pre-Season Bias: There are no pre-season expectations or polls factored in; every team starts fresh each season.
- Early Season Variability: Limited results can skew rankings. Teams will not appear in the rankings until 8 games have been played.
- Every Result Counts: While scores are not factored into RPI calculations, the outcomes of games are crucial. Missing or incorrect results can affect rankings, so if you notice any discrepancies, please notify us immediately at admin@statetourney.com.
- State Tournament Seedings – Teams not showing in the rankings will not be seeded in the top half of the bracket at state.
This ranking system mirrors the methodology used by OSAA.org basketball RPI rankings, offering a fair, data-driven approach to evaluate teams based on their results in qualifying events and strength of schedule. Stay tuned as the season progresses and the rankings evolve!
